Going about activating two different wifi controllers. Running Void on an USB drive

I have void on an USB as the title indicates. I want to scp some files over to it so I plugged it into my desktop forgetting that the network controller is different and is only set up to run my module for the laptop wifi card. So say I want to connect to wifi, and activate the card for the desktop. Could I just modprobe it and then blacklist it when I'm done with the desktop? I don't know if it helps but I am using WPA Supplicant to connect to WiFI. I just dont want the system to try and use the other configuration when not in use.
