gnutella behind a router
 

I downloaded gtk-gnutella the other day and installed it without incident, or so I thought. I've been able to download some stuff, but then I noticed the fire icon down in the corner the text says:

Gtk-gnutella thinks you're firewalled. Nobody has connected to you so far. You will not see any push results which may prevent you from seeing a large amount of results.

I went to the config >> network settings and gave my local ip to force local ip, but the message is still down in the corner. Is there anything to do to alleviate this problem?

You are using a router, right? That router is a hardware firewall. Of course you force the IP to look at the gateway (192.168.0.1 probably)
You can still use GTK-Gnutella fine but you can't send or receive push requests.

PS. It's more informative if you include the distro version, i.e. 7.1, 8.0 etc.

I have the same problem, I have a DSL router and pory 6346 is forwarded ( both tcp and udp protocols ) to my gnutella station . I do have a transparent bridging firewall between the DSL router and my home LAN, and I set up IP Tables to allow tcp/udp packets to port 6346 to come through. However, gtk-gnutella , which successfully connects to other gnutella systems and downloads files, say s"Gtk-gnutella thinks you're firewalled..."

Any ideas on how to rectify this situation?
