Gnumeric help broken?

In either KDE or Gnome, when I click on help, it stalls for 1-2 minutes ('loading'), then the same again when bringing up each page. Once on a page, following an html link is usually immediate. But the function reference (which is the most important one, of course) always hangs like this, and all links incur the wait, then return me to the top of a huge html page that has all the functions and text in alphabetical order - I can use the browser-find to search again, which works of course, but then I have to wait another couple of minutes to go back to another page.

So effectively it's unuseable. Which is a pity, as it looks like it might be quite good otherwise.

Does anybody have help working sensibly in Gnumeric?
