Exclamation gnucash probelm

i get this error when trying to run gnucash:

gnucash: relocation error: /usr/lib/ undefined symbol: scm_last_debug_frame

what's the problem and how do i fix it? i know an .so is a compiled library so i can't just open it and edit it.

any help would be appreciated. thanks.
