Gnucash displays incorrect date

I am not sure whether to chat about this issue here or on some GnuCash forum 'cause I am not sure if it is an OS problem or a GnuCash problem. Suggestions would be welcome.

For some reason GnuCash (1.8.8) displays all dates as one day too early. ie a transaction that was posted on 31/12/2004 is shown in the register as 30/12/2004. However, the GnuCash XML file shows the dates correctly:

Code:

<ts:date>2004-12-31 00:00:00 +0200</ts:date>
The reason I believe there is a possibility that this might be an OS problem is that I get the following message when I run date:

Code:

Sat Dec  4 15:45:44 Local time zone must be set--see zic manual page 2004
I am unsure how to check the zone and what effect it might have on the GnuCash interprets the date.

I am running Gentoo kernel 2.6.7-r11.

It was inddeed not a GnuCash problem. My timezone and UTC was not set corretly. Changed this and everything is working AOK.
