GNU Screen status bar and caption bar

I have found a guide online to making screens caption bar show output from a script.

I am already using a hardstatus and caption line that I like:

hardstatus string '%{= bW}%-Lw%{= rW}%50>%n%f* %t%{= bW}%+Lw%< %{= bd}%-=%D %d %M %Y %c:%s%{-}'
caption always "%{= rW} [ %S ] %f %t %? ( %{rY} %u %{rW} ) %?"
His looks like this:

backtick 100 5 5 tail -1 /var/tmp/vermaden_stats_top
caption always '%{= wk} %= %100` %='
I try reading about screen. Most/some of the escape sequences make sense to me, but the other characters being used do not.

How can I add the backtick to the config I am already using, so that it is aligned to the right of of the caption bar? Or center align it with the text I already have in the caption bar that's left aligned?
