gnome windows

I recently switched from KDE to Gnome and i am glad i made the switch for the most part. i just had one question though. In KDE there was a Save Window Settings option or something like that, so if i resized my Console or File Manager windows and saved the setting, the next time i open the program it would be the same size as i put it. can i even do this with Gnome?
