gnome-volume-manager auto-mount issue

Hi,

Auto-mounting has never worked on my system... until yesterday. Since then, I've somehow managed to break it. I can't think of anything I could have done that caused it to stop working again. However, I do know what I did to make it work in the first place (although it doesn't make a bit of sense).

I replaced g-v-m with magicdev, which was able to auto-mount the CD just fine. However, it seemed like skipping around in DVDs was a bit slower than usual, so I switched back to g-v-m which then also worked.

Now, after a reboot, neither will work. When I put in a CD, nothing happens (normally, thunar pops up and files are visible under the /media/cdrom0 mount point).

If I mount the drive manually and attempt to eject with the button, it fails with "Failed to eject "/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_...." Given device is not a volume or drive." It has always thrown this error, but it used to actually eject.

Thanks

I figured out what was wrong. It's much more obvious than I had thought -- gnome-volume-manager wasn't starting on boot.
