I have read that a lot of people are having problems with their sound using gnome. until recently I never had any issues, until I was forced to reinstall gentoo.
now, sound basicly works, I can use gxine, beepmediaplayer, alsaplayer, and the alsamixer, but as soon as i try to run applications that were 'bundeld' with the gnome-ebuild, I run into problems.
For instance, everytime gnome loads, "gnome-volume-control" crashes, displaying following message:
Code:
No volume control elements and/or devices found.
running it from a console reveals:
Code:

the sound recorder also fails to run, same goes for cdjuicer and everything else, that was compiled together with gnome, except the games. Gnometris works perfectly and with sound.
any ideas?
