Gnome Sound Issues

The sound was working before I restarted, but now I keep getting this "Couldn't open Audio Please check that: your sound card is configured properly; you have the correct output plugin selected; No other program is blocking the soundcard..."

Well, the Sound in preferences has no options for sound input, so obviously it is just not detecting my sound card... Any ideas on how to fix this?
