Gnome right click desktop menu (edit??)

For lack of thought and proper terms the menu that comes up with you right click on the gnome desktop. I'm not finding any documentation on how to edit that. I want to be able to add categories, etc. For instance I'm running new version of Ubuntu and want to add a terminal option, also add some other options like, audit, scanning, etc and be able to put items in their. Can anyone direct me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.
Ryan

just to clear up any other questions, I don't care about editing the application menu, I was to edit the "desktop menu" or active menu or whatever you wanna call it :P

I dont have an answer to this but I justed wanted to add something. I also have wanted to know how to customize this menu. I would like to add application launchers to the right click menu in gnome (sorta like with fluxbox, and the other *box wm's).

It would seem to me that this would require some gnome code hacking. So basically what we want to do is customize the right click menu in gnome.

This is a double post/reply but I'm doing it for future searchers... relax... It took me 2 hours to figure out how to add the gnome terminal back into nautilus. unaceptable. ;)
