Unhappy gnome login problem

Hi,
I have a problem about the gnome login. My system is that SL3. Our system is running NIS, which /home is NFS mounted inside our local network. While I use one username, say Jack , to login, nextt time I could not login with the same username unless I login with another username, say John, first then the previos one, Jack, could login again. Does anyone meet the same prolem before ?

Thanks ....

Maybe you have an available space problem. If you not have enough space logging into a graphical environment will fail
