gnome keeps giving me a random error

randomly gnome will popup with an error message, I'm not sure what I do that causes this but whenever I play a video it will constantly happen. It says

An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for gnome-settings-daemon. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly.

If I click on details it says:
Bad key or directory name: "/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/host-(none)/0/numlock_on": `(' is an invalid character in key/directory names

I don't know what this could be reffering to, my numlock key works fine, and I don't see how it relates to playing videos, maybe it's just a coincidence. Either way, I do not notice any problems other than this random error, which I find annoying that it will popup while I'm trying to watch a movie. Btw, I'm using slackware 10.2 and dropline gnome 2.14

Which program are you using?

Does this happen under a clean (new) user account?

yeah, I just tried making a new user and the same thing happens. And I think it only happens with xine. I can open xine and as soon as I play a video it will happen. It does not happen with gxine though. I don't understand why this would be. I was using w/e version of xine and the xine ui that comes on the slackware 10.2 cd, but I tried compiling the latest from source and I still have the same problem.

How about Totem?

We have a custom xinelib pack on Dropline. I've never seen this bug report before, but it may be because most people don't use xineui. Does it happen if you downgrade to the original Slackware xinelib package?
