Gnome installed, but won't show up at login screen

Mandrake 10 comes with Gnome already installed (don't know what version), and I did "urpmi gnome-desktop" only to get "Everything already installed" but gnome doesn't show up as an option at login. The only options that do appear are KDE, Default (last used), IceWM, and Failsafe (?). The distro also comes with windowmaker, I believe, and that isn't listed either.

Also, at the login screen, the Halt and Reboot buttons are grayed out and disabled, so I have to do a hard shutdown when I want to shut down.

Any help in resolving either of these would be appreciated..
