gnome gui memory checker

I am running RH7.3 and using the Gnome X environment, is there a command to look at the memory usage in a gui. I am thinking of something similar to 'gmemusage' on IRIX.

I dont know of a command that will open a gui that will let you see memory usage. You could always use the console to do this, but thats not exactly a pretty gui. There's some monitoring apps for gnome that will let you see memory usage like Gnome System Monitor. That app should come with most distros, or you could look it up on Freshmeat for the download url.

If you just want overall mem usage take a look at 'gkrellm'.

If you want a Gnome version of 'top' try what used to be 'gtop' but is now 'gnome-system-monitor'. Not sure whether the changeover happened before RH7.3.
