Gnome errors on Startup..

Doe's anyone now how I would go about trouble shooting this:

I'm running mandrake 9.0, Gnome and when I startup in Gnome I get the following error message:

*****************************************
ERROR:

There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.

The Settings Daemon restarted too many times.

The last error message was:

Failed to activate 'OAFIID:GNOME_SettingsDaemon

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.

**********************************************

I've tried logging out and back in, completely rebooting and still get the same error message.

i think you might need to install the control-center package.

I'm not sure what you mean. I have Mandrake Control center installed.

Can you be a little more specific.

Thanks, :)

Thanks,

I wonder why I couldn't find that thread.

When I go to install the Gnome Control-Center I get an error:

"Installation failed, some files are missing. You may want to update your sources database."

How the heck do I do that?

Thanks,

Ok,
Now this is silly.

I opened MDK control center Software management/Install Software. Typed in Control and clicked on Search. It found the Gnome Control-Center pkg that I needed. I clicked on install and it asked for CD #1...

Now this is where this is totally silly... I can't remember the exact steps that I took but I put in CD #1 and clicked OK, and got the error message about:
"Installation failed, some files are missing. You may want to update your sources database."
I closed out of the Mandrake Control Center and then went back into and did the same thing except this time the cd#1 was already in. So I just clicked install and OK. Everything ran smooth..

What happened here?
