Gnome errors

I'm having some trouble with GNOME. I just have a fresh install of Mandrake 9.0 with KDE and GNOME installed. Everytime i login to GNOME (my default WM/Desktop environment) it has an error. the error says:

"There was an error starting the GNOME settings Daemon. Some things, sych as themes, sounds, background settings may not work correctly.
The settings daemon restarted too many times.
the last error message wasthis is still part of the error window)
Failed to activate 'OAFIID:GNOME_SettingsDaemon
GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in."

END ERROR MESSAGE

what can i do to FIX this, and not just make the window go away ? i want to be able to use themes and sounds, etc...

also, where can i find tons of themes for gnome ?G
