Gnome 2.8 Pros and Cons

I've been researching Gnome 2.8 because I'm thinking of upgrading my Gnome but I haven't really found any useful information. I keep hearing that Gnome 2.8 is really good but I don't know what makes it great. I was wondering if you guys can help me clarify this. Do you guys know of websites I can go to learn more about Gnome 2.8.

Basically I want to get the latest Gnome because I'm running Gnome 2.6 on Suse 9.2 Pro. I believe that technically it may appear as though its Gnome 2.6 but its actually Ximian. I want to have the real Gnome because I'm sure that I probably would be able to solve a few of odd problems that I'm having that apparently no one else has. I won't get into details since I've already posted my numerous oddball problems all over these forums. Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
