gnome.org just provide the source for the various components that make up gnome, so you would download, compile and install each of those.

If your using rh it is probably going to be easier for you to just obtain rpms, just search on rpm.pbone.net, or something similar.

Or you could try installing AptRpm and use the gnome repository on this site: NyQuist :: Repository

i think fedora release 1 comes with gnome 2.4 installed for it as well as kernel 2.4.22. you can get the ISOs off of www.distrowatch.com. it's newer then redhat 9, but i wouldn't say it's tried an true yet. installing fedora might be a lazier way to get your stuff up to date, but proceed with caution that or apt repositories. whatever blows your skirt up, melts your butter, or tickles your whiskers.

Hello everyone...

Thnaks alot for helping me out; but if u notice the date... you will see that its been quiet a while.....:-) {not that I am complaining}; but I have switched to Slackware9.1. It hasen't been easy; but with sufficient help from linuxquestions.org I was able to make it; & Slackware9.1 comes with gnome 2.4 installed; as well as kernel 2.4.22. As henc15 mentioned "The trudge through the linux world hones your skills as a warrior".... yes I do belive him now; especially after switching to Slackware9.1 ;-)

Anyway thanks a lot everyone ;-)
