Gnome 2.10: How to raise windows programmatically?
Hi all!
Please, figure that: using gnome 2.10 environment, a java application act as a simple command interface for opening "X" windows. Many big windows (10-15). Each window has its title. With all these windows opened, many are overlapped or hided by the others. While opening, the java application populate a menu with the corresponding window title for rapid retriving in foreground. For application necessity task bars are not usable in selecting windows. Via java method associated to the menu above, i would send a shell command like 'xwit' (http://www.slack.com/sw/xwit-man.html); this command helped (up to redhat 7.3) me to accomplish the popup (rasing) of choosed window in forground. Unfortunately "modern" distros doesn't contain xwit or something similar. Q: has gnome some command or trick or gconf setting can help me? Q2: any other idea? Thanks in advance! |
wmctrl could be fine for this: http://sweb.cz/tripie/utils/wmctrl/
