Gnome's Power Manager and Volume Control Crash at startup

Hello:

I'm using gentoo with gnome desktop. I am new to all this so I do must of my installations with "emerge whatever". My gnome power manager and volume control where in my gnome panel and worked perfectly until I installed the banshee media player. I just typed in a console: emerge banshee. After the program was installed, I opened it but it just opened and closed immediatly. So I restarted my computer and when I logged in again, the gnome-power-manager crashed at startup and also the volume control. I can open the volume control with the console or with the gnome menus, but when I try to add it again to the panel, it crashes. The gnome-power-manager crashes everytime I try to open it.

I am sure that the banshee installation did something to screw these two programs. After that, I unmerged banshee, thinking that the problem would be solved, but it didn't. I already re-emerged gnome-power-manager, gnome-panel and gnome-applets. I also tried unmerging them and then emerging them but the results are the same.

Does anybody knows what may be the problem?

If I just type "emerge gnome" again, will that fix it?

Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks

Solved

Well, I managed to solve the problem by typing:

emerge --depclean

Then many packages and libraries and other strange stuff that were installed with banshee were deleted --I guess-- from my computer.

Then I restarted the system and gnome-power-manager didn't crash again. I was also able to add to my panel the volume control again.
