gmplayer problem

After a day in tar and rpm hell, I finally got MPlayer-1.0pre7try2 working on my Red Hat 9. But now, whenever I type gmplayer on my terminal, following output is produced and it remains there forever, without any GUI window.

Quote:

Detected cache-line size is 32 bytes
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 0
Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 SSE

vo: X11 running at 1024x768 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display)
Any help?

hmmmmm........

deepsix: very helpfull :p

Anyway.. i think you have some problems with missing libs (no deps) or something.
Or an outdated version of it.

Question:
Why do you use RH9 as non-server? it's outdated especially for Desktop/Workstation use.

You didn't give it anything to do.
IMHO I don't care for gmplayer.
You may wish to try Kplayer. It is a nice front end for Mplayer. It is a little slow launching if you are not using KDE. Totem with all the codecs installed will give you a nice player too.
There are others also.

Did you install the Skin and the font package? Did you install with ./configure --enable-gui?

kamran_pro 09-18-2005 06:04 AM

I installed using ./configure --enable-gui. And a skin package. But I'll try installing an official font package.

kamran_pro 09-18-2005 07:02 AM

New: 3) Installed font package.
2) Installed skin package.
1) Installed using ./configure --enable-gui

Still no change.

I'll check dependcies and versions of lib now.

In the meanwhile if someone else has got some other suggestion, please post it here.

Sorry for being a :newbie:

The skin package's directory structure was the problem. I downloaded "Blue" skin which had directory structure as /Blue/skin/[files] but when I placed them as /Blue/[files] it worked.

Thanks for your time. deepsix's hmm really helped (as it made obvious that I'm making some general mistake).
