gmplayer closes while mplayer works

okay well I just installed my nvidia video driver and before gmplayer and mplayer worked, but it was always lagging if I tried to resize. Now if I type mplayer file.avi or whatever, it resizes and runs very smoothly...but if I want gmplayer, it gives me this message
Code:
Playing /home/mark/family.guy.407.pdtv-lol.avi.

AVI: Generated index table for 83397 chunks!

AF_pre: 48000Hz/2ch/s16le
and then it just closes

Anybody help?

Could just be a skin problem. Locate your "gui.conf". Confirm or change back to default:

gui_skin = "default"

then try starting "gmplayer" again.

Yeah that's there. The thing is, I can start gmplayer, and it looks like it's fine, but then when I try to play something, it closes.

Try running from a terminal. In addition to having the GUI it will give you output on what it is doing.

Then try to play some diff file formats ie: mpg,avi,mp3, etc... and note the output. Could be a codec problem or audio issue.

If it closes you should get an idea from the terminal what is happening.
