Gmail Checker for linux

Just wondered if anybody knew of a good mail checker in linux that is designed for checking gmail accounts, preferably designed for KDE, and with no configuration, also I'm running slackware, so I a tgz would be nice but is not essential

well thunderbird works good. there are a few extentions for firefox that automaticaly check gmail and notify you of new messages also.

I use gmail notifier with Arch, which I've found works reasonably well. It's a python script that kind of mimics the official checker from google for windows with pretty simple configuration, it justs asks for your username and password when you first start it if I remember correctly. While I was looking searching the Arch packages for the website I also found KCheckGmail which is designed for KDE CheckGmail, but I have no idea how well either of those work.
