Cool I've created an AOL account a while ago but I've noone at my list. I will add you as soon as I'm home. I have very few Linux buddies on my ICQ and MSN too, so it will be nice to have someone to talk Linux stuff with.

Oh man, sorry. Very strange though. I wonder if the ET pack is fine. If you did get a Nvidia Splash screen, then most likely its the package. Try typeing "glxgears" in a terminal without the quotes and see if it start glxgears or if it returns any error.
If you have another game to test would be cool, as tuxracer for example....

Oh, remember that, if you have recompiled/updated the kernel, you need to reinstal Nvidia drivers again. If you think it may be a driver problem, get this one:

And I help you out (re)installing it...

i got no splash its just i installed the kernel headers that matched
my kernel, and then i compiled the nvidia kernel in runtime 3 mode installing that same file u told me to download

As you are now installing Nvidia drivers again, here is a thread with a similar problem. Perhaps checking this thread and our friend's XF86Config will help for a while until I can get back home and compare yours with mine
