Global Hotkeys To Change Song In XMMS

Is there a way to set up xmms or gnome to change song when i press a key. i have set it up in gconf but those hotkeys do not work when i am playing enemy territory (quake style game), the only hotkeys that work in enemy territory are the ones to change virtual terminals and hard restart x.

thx
