glibc install

I downloaded an updated version of the glibc and used tar command to copy the files to its own directory. Now when I try to use the install file, it says permission denied. What should I do?

Running as "root" you got a permission denied message? Seems unlikely. Root power should allow you to chmod the files if it is in fact a file level permission problem. But I suspect running make, etc., as root will get you where you want to go.

if you read the README it should give you instructions for installing the app, like

make
make install
make clean...

You run those commands from within your newly un-tarred directory.

something like that. I'm assuming we are talking about the binary source files and not an rpm.
