Question Glib 2.0 problem

Ok, while installing glib2.0 it says i need pkg-config. I have the lattest version and compiled everything correctly. Or so i hope i did, LoL. ANyways it says if i did install pkg-config i need to set the path PKG_CONFIG_PATH to some directory. Anyone know what exactly they're asking?... I dont even know what file they're talking about to set the PKG_CONFIG_PATH to what dir LoL. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
