gkrellm forced with newer crypt and ssl libs

Hi ... im running SuSE 9.1 ... and i just installed gkrellm 2.1.25 with SuSE's package manager (rpm). When it was installing, it said that there was a conflict because it didnt have libcrypto.so.0.96 ... but my system has .97. The same goes for libssl. I forced it because i figured it would work.
When i tried to start up gkrellm, it said that it couldnt find those files. So is there a config file for gkrellm that i should edit to point to the new libraries? Are those newer libraries compatible with gkrellm? Or can i make a symbolic link to the newer libraries? If so, could someone help me out with the code for it .. im kinda rusty. Thanks in advance.
~Erik
p.s. The RPM i got of gkrellm says its for SuSE 8.2
