Gimp losing list of recently opened files
Hi:
I recently installed a new SSD and went for broke reinstalling everything but my /home stuff with an updated download of Ubuntu 14.04.3 (I was running 14.04.2).
Aside from some quirks with .3, I seem to regularly lose the list of recently opened files in Gimp, and have no idea why.
The other odd thing I noticed is that every so often when I open LibreOffice, it tells me that it needs to recover the files I was last working on.
I've used both of these for ages, and have not crashed either, nor abruptly lost power or anything like that, so I suspect it is something to do with how the SSD is set up. The only thing I can guess is that perhaps somehow a cache isn't getting shut down cleanly when I log off or reboot or something of that nature.
Does anyone have any suggestions what to look for; I can't help but think these things have a common cause ...

Thanks in advance.
Hi CVAlkan
Unfortunately you did two things together, so it is difficult to figure which one is causing your problem. I would not think anything with regards to the SSD is the issue unless you are approaching a full disk issue. (over 80% of disk capacity used).
One option is to uninstall one of the offending apps (Gimp) and reinstall it. If this does not improve things then you might want to check your filesystem for problems, but as it is a new install it is unlikely to be a problem.
Any settings with regards the SSD are all performance related like trim or whatever and do not affect its reliability. Try the Gimp reinstall and see if that helps then post back.

Gimp losing list of recently opened files
John and Robert:
Thanks for the responses. The SSD is mostly empty, so I agree it isn't likely the issue; I just thought I should mention that.
I renamed/recreated the .gimp-2.8 file and will give that several days (and logons and shutdowns) to see how that goes before reinstalling, which I'll do if I run into the issue again.
In any case, I'll try to respond within a week in case others run into this. Having to recreate the LibreOffice user profile is a common way to correct things when it goes insane, but I had never run into that before with Gimp.
