GIMP fonts

Whenever I use the GIMP I have a very small selection of fonts to choose from unlike other linux applications. Also the fonts that are there do not have the full range of options and some have no preview available.
Can anyone help me!!??!

Take a look at this documentation, you may get some useful tips.

have you downloaded the true-type font pack? i know in suse, and maybe in fedora too, that there was a pack of microsoft fonts which were optional to download. which for legal reasons or some such could not be shipped with linux. i have loads of fonts in gimp. however they are slightly genaric looking mostly

Where do you keep your fonts ? Different apps look in different directories. X looks in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. Gnome apps look uses /usr/share/fonts. Dunno about KDE

It's best to have both directories filled with the same fonts (or symbolic links if your desparate about disk usage)
