gimp cant save xpm

i just reformatted my cmoputer and put gentoo 2004.2 on here and when i emerged gnome and X and everythign i used xorg instead of xfree86. ( i think this has something to do with it) now when i try to save images as xpm in gimp it wont let me, i searched for xpm in portage and it says xpm comes with xll so i emerged xpm and still no luck. can someone help me.

i fixed it. i had to actually download libxpm and compile from source, it wasnt in portage for some reason i have no idea what it wasnt installed as a dependency of something else. oh well all is good. thanks for the reply though.
