GIMP & Fonts

Hi guys,

Just a quick question that I'm sure is easy. I've started playing around with GIMP on my RH machine. I used to use Adobe Photoshop when I was using Windows.

The thing I want to know is about the fonts, in Adobe I used to be able to add text which in which the fonts were 3D etc, and really stood out. I've tried everyting in GIMP and can't get anything like it to happen to my text.

Do I have to download certain fonts to be able to do this or am I missing something?

Thanks alot,

Regards
Craig

It sounds like you mean applying styles to fonts. Yes, the GIMP does that, but with script-fu scripts rather than styles as in Photoshop. Have a look under Xtns > Script-Fu > Logos to see what possible. No additional fonts needed.

Cool thanks for that : )

I'm getting errors on a lot of them about Scalable Fonts (which I have turned off) but some of them seem to be working ok.

Thanks alot for that : )

Hi,

One more quick question if that is ok?

When I have a image open (the image I want to addd the script-fu text to) and go t oXtns > Script-Fu > Logos and create the text I want, it opens up the new text in a seperate window.

Is this correct or should it add it directly into the picture where I want it?

Thanks alot.
