Ghostscript and oowriter stretched page on screen

Greetings,

This is my first post on LinuxQuestions.org and I have already searched a great deal for the answer.

System:
Fedora Core 1 2.4.26

OpenOffice writer and all postscript viewing applications are incorrectly displaying page size on screen, such that the horizontal is stretched, affecting font appearances drastically. This is not a problem in any koffice or any OpenOffice application besides Writer.

When viewing the document zoomed out, or in print preview, a portrait orientation 8.5"x11" document appears almost as wide as landscape orientation. See screenshots at:

These documents will print correctly. They only display improperly onscreen. I'm assuming it has something to do with postscript rendering. Updating OpenOffice had no effect. I'm new enough to Linux that I don't know which library controls postscript viewing.

If anyone has encountered this and has a fix, I would be thankful. If someone could name the PS libraries so I could rebuild them, that would be helpful as well.

Thanks much,
MB

SOLVED: it was a dual monitor problem

I solved this by adjusting the DPI in XFree86Config. nvidia TwinView and Xinerama cause onscreen aspect ration distortion in OO, and aparently a few other apps as well.

Search oooforums for "dual monitor" and "aspect ratio" for more information. Sorry, I'm not allowed to post links here yet.

Best,
MB
