What program can i use to "ghost" an install of my nix distro?
i know my win xp pro pc i can use norton ghost to copy it in case it gets trashed i can just ghost it back on and 15 mins later i have what i last saved..
is it possible to do that with a distro?
more specifically mandrake 10 or 10.1 official or suse 9.1 pro?
just curious. in case i tank one of my distros i want to be able to load it where i left off.
Supposedly there are applications that do this, however, I've had little luck in getting them to work for me. http://partimage.org is one, but I suspect there are others that probably do it slightly better.
ghost will do it. i have done that with my debian distros. not sure if it depends on what the file system is (ext2, ext3, reiser) but i just booted up with my ghost disks and had a multi cast server running on my network and made a gho image of the pc. then restored it back and all was well. norton ghost should do this for you
