Getting to 'init3' via Terminal and not via CTRL+Alt+F1

I need to get into init3 on a virtual machine but the shortkeys actually make my host entering that. Can I actually get into init3 on a virtual machine?

On most VM's the ctrl-alt combo is special (as you have noticed).

You don't mention which VM you are using, but to my knowledge most, if not all VM's can send these key combo's to the guest. Libvirt, for example, has a Send Key pull down menu with a bunch of often used combinations.

I'm trying to do this on Debian Jessie, and I'm on Jessie too using VirtualBox.
Sorry, but where can I find these combo's? And what's Libvirt?

Regards

I don't know, haven't used VirtualBox in ages. I'm sure you get relevant hits when you search for virtualbox sending ctrl-alt.

libvirt is part of KVM/QEMU one of the many VM's out there. It is part of the Debian package suite (as is VirtualBox).

Thanks druuna, turns out that the combination is very symple:

(host [Right Ctrl]) + F1 through F12.

I didn't think I would get satisfactory answers on Google, that's weird o.O
