Getting SU rights

Hi. I searched for help before I posted. I didn't find the answer unless I searched wrong. If I did then I am sorry. Anyway, as a normal user I can launch a program but can not start it because I need SU rights. I looked at sudo but all the commands confuse me. All I want to do is be able to start some program with root rights. Can anyone guide me in the right direction Please. Thanks ??:

Type
Code:
su -
Note the hyphen... it will then ask for your root password. Supply that and enjoy

You can also just use "su" but you won't inherit all of roots paths.
