Getting started with HA/clustering

So an opportunity has (finally) come up which will allow me to "get my feet wet" with HA/Clustering. Therefore, I thought I would drop in an get some feedback on where to start. Here are some initial questions that I'd appreciate some opinions on:

1. Can/Should this be looked at from a distro perspective? (no flamewars needed What I mean is, does a distro exist that focuses on HA/Clustering?

2. What sites are essential when it comes to this stuff? I remember seeing a ton of information on and will surely be spending some time there over the next few days.

Thanks for any help,
