Getting khtml2png to work

Hi

I want to install khtml2png on my linux server for which I have root access.

In the downloads page, there are 3 file types :
a bz2 file, a tar.gz and a .deb file.

I know that if I got to download the tar.gz file, I got to
Code:
   1. ./configure
   2. make
   3. make install
as mentioned here.

And it also mentions :
Quote:
If you have chosen the precompiled statically linked file you don't need to install KDE or KDE librariers. Just extract the file with

bunzip2 <file name>

and place it in a directory used for binaries (e.g. /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin). If you like you can rename the executable.
Where can I get the <file name> for bunzip2 ? I dont suppose its the khtml2png-1.0.3.tar.bz2 mentioned in SF downloads as it was released in 2005, while the tar and deb files were released in 2007.

And whats the deb file for ?

Thanks

.deb files are precompiled binaries for debian-based systems, ones that use the apt package manager. You might be able to convert it to an .rpm with alien, but there's no guarantee that it would work.

It certainly sounds to me like they're talking about the bz2 file from the downloads page. My guess is that it's a precompiled version capable of being run on any system (because it's statically linked, it requires no outside libraries). Either they simply haven't compiled any new versions for a couple of years, or else the date on the web page is wrong. I suggest downloading it and trying it out. If it doesn't work, or is the wrong version, just delete it and compile your own from the tar.gz source.
