getting error 550 from vsftpd

howdy,

I'm running vsftpd on SLES 8.2

I've been able to get the server to start, and connect anonymously, but when I connect, I see nothing. If I try to go to a directory in the ftp tree, I get the following msg:

550 Failed to change directory

I think I've got the anonymous setup correctly. Here is my config file. I've included all the commented out parts just in case some of it needs to be uncommented:

anonymous_enable=YES
#local_enable=YES
#write_enable=YES
#local_umask=022
#anon_upload_enable=YES
#anon_mkdir_write_enable=YES
dirmessage_enable=YES
xferlog_enable=YES
connect_from_port_20=YES
#chown_uploads=YES
#chown_username=whoever
#xferlog_file=/var/log/vsftpd.log
#xferlog_std_format=YES
#idle_session_timeout=600
#data_connection_timeout=120
nopriv_user=loser
#async_abor_enable=YES
#ascii_upload_enable=YES
#ascii_download_enable=YES
ftpd_banner=Orion bids you welcome.
#deny_email_enable=YES
# (default follows)
#banned_email_file=/etc/vsftpd.banned_emails
#chroot_list_enable=YES
# (default follows)
#chroot_list_file=/etc/vsftpd.chroot_list
local_root=/home/ftp
#ls_recurse_enable=YES
listen=YES

Thx in advance for the help.

also, the anonymous user's (loser) home dir is set to /home/ftp, which is the root of the ftp server.
