get chinese fonts on system?

So I install the SCIM program, and it works great so far. But I encountered the strangest problem with the fonts. If I type 程安國, then the last symbol will be rendered with a really nice font, but the other 2 will be rendered with some other font. However, if I type 國 first, then type 程安國, they are all rendered with the nice font. But when I modify the first 國,they are converted back to the ugly font. Does anybody else have this problem?

Does this problem appear only with the SCIM program, or with all other programs as well?

From your description it seems to me that your program has difficulties to find where multibyte characters start and end in a string with mixed single- and multibyte characters.

The problem occurs only with using SCIM to input chinese text. If I google my Chinese text copy the 'good' symbols from Google, then they still appear good when I paste in openoffice.

Could you please explain what multibyte characters are? I'm not very proficient in that area
