gentoo shutdown hang


Hi

I can't shutdown,

Its hanging at portmap, I'm using gentoo. Its happened on every machine I've setup as a nis client. It will shutdown eventually but after a very very long time.

In your /etc/conf.d/rc (IIRC) you may find en entry for parallel startup. Change that to a "yes", see if that helps during shutdown as well.

If it doesn't, I'd report this as a bug to Gentoo's bugzilla. Although it's trivial, I think the script maintainer might look into switching shutdown tasks to either timeout faster, or have a & to move along to getting the system shutdown faster.
