Gentoo require module for SATA controller for installation.

Friends,

What is the easiest method for having/adding a precompiled module during a Gentoo installtion? I'm looking into purchasing one of these. They make linux drivers, however, it's not included in the kernel. I've not done an installation like this for a while. The way I used to do it was download the kernel and apply the config/patches that gentoo has for the specific installation CD i was to be using. Then compile the module against that kernel. Then put the module on a thumb disk and use it during installation but that's a lot of work. Is there an 'easier' way to do this

Thanks!

Brandon

Can't you just download a module for the Gentoo Live CD kernel-version? I mean, that would be easiest if you could do it.

The advantage of using this method, is that if there is a change in the module, you can compile a new updated module and load it. If you are satisfied with it, you can automate the loading during boot itself.
