Gentoo KDE install being annoying

Ok, so after having to delete /usr/lib64/libGL.la because it was bogus, I tried to emerge kdebase-startkde, and it was compiling kcontrol, when I go this error:

x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ar: .libs/libkrdb.a: Permission denied
make[4]: *** [libkrdb.la] Error 1
make[4]: Leaving directory /var/tmp/portage/kcontrol-3.4.3/work/kcontrol-3.4.3/kcontrol/krdb
make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory /var/tmp/portage/kcontrol-3.4.3/work/kcontrol-3.4.3/kcontrol/krdb
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory /var/tmp/portage/kcontrol-3.4.3/work/kcontrol-3.4.3/kcontrol
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory /var/tmp/portage/kcontrol-3.4.3/work/kcontrol-3.4.3

This is really annoying. Any help?

Thanks,
-Peter

Have you emerged nvidia or ati drivers?

After I emerged the ati-drivers I received compile errors on any app requiring opengl.
I found this solution that has worked so far:

Code:
opengl-update xorg-x11
emerge chosen package
opengl-update ati (return back to ati)

That seemed to work, but now it says :

/usr/include/linux/joystick.h:114: error: 'int32_t' does not name a type

And then error1's. WHY CAN'T KCONTROL JUST COMPILE!!!!! That's three errors emerging the same package! Anyway, thanks for the tip, and if you have any more tips, please let me know.

Thanks,
-Peter

check these out:
http://www.gentoo-portage.com/kde-ba...base/ChangeLog
http://www.krupin.net/serendipity/in...oystick.h.html

it seems the problem with joystick.h was fixed with kdebase-3.4.3-r1.ebuild

i'm new to gentoo, but maybe a "emerge --sync" will fix the problem

good luck

I'll try it and let you know what happens. I think I'm going to go for kde 3.5 anyway.

Thanks,
-Peter
