gentoo installation
ok im just about to install linux gentoo. or at least attempt to install it. now im not sure how to partition the harddrive for this. can anyone give me a suggestion? i'll keep posting to this thread whenever i get stuck with something. maybe it'll turn into a full fledged gentoo walkthrough. (for my specs :D ) oh well should be useful.

The Gentoo install guide has suggestions.. 32MB for /boot 512 (I did 2GB) for swap and the rest for /. I've since learned and I think it's best to have a seperate partition for /home so if you decide to swap distro or reinstall or whatever you can keep all your settings for your fav apps.

Started installing it 12 hours ago, got it running and it is working ok. The only proble I have is that there are alot of errors on startup, is there a log for when it boots so I can see what has gone wrong and correct it.
Just done "emerge --sync", now doing "emerge --update" (Thinks thats the right command), going smooth at the moment. |
Check the files in /var/log
Also in a terminal try : # dmesg | grep error Regards Shmonkey |
