gentoo gnome bonobo problems

i'm miles away from home but, at home i have a gnome 2.4.1 installed. everything was running smoothly until yesterday. i emerged gtoaster, metacity-themes and with -K(cause i didn't want to download so much) evolution(1.4.3). i guess evolution emerged an older version of bonobo...at least that's what i think i don't know if it's so. but after the evolution emerge it told me that the bonobo config file needed updating. that's what i understood from launching etc-update. but i didn't merge the config. i left it the way it was. after that i switched to vte7, entered my username and pass and waited to see gnome launching. instead a window appeared informing me that it tried sever times restarting the gnome theme manager but it was no use. it tells me that the next time i login it would be restarted but now i would have problems with themes and stuff..some applications try to launch as galeon but it gives some fatal error, nautilus too doesn't wish to start with some fatal error it couldn't communicate with bonobo or something like that! :( so i decided to merge the config...i merged it but nothing! the same errors. then i emerge evolution 1.4.5. nothing again. then i unmerged metacity-themes(which was masked)-again the same stuff. then i "emerge bonobo"...surprisingly it downloaded something and installed it. but the same stuff happens :(. i had no time to try to emerge libbonobo to see if this will restore some defaults.
so i would appreciate any kind of help!
if i can't do anything else(which will be on friday cause that's when i'm coming back home) do you think that if i emerge gnome-base everything will be fine...i mean, i can't crash something if i use it, right? or should i use update option or something like that!
thank you very much!
