Gentoo fglrx emerge problems

I've got a ATI Radeon 200, and I'd like to get the fglrx drivers for xorg working. But when I try to emerge x11-drivers/ati-drivers, I get an error:

Code:
make[1]: *** [/var/tmp/portage/ati-drivers-8.30.3-r1/work/common/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/firegl_public.o] Error 1
make: *** [_module_/var/tmp/portage/ati-drivers-8.30.3-r1/work/common/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod] Error 2
make: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.19-rc6'

>>> Test phase [not enabled]: x11-drivers/ati-drivers-8.30.3-r1

>>> Install ati-drivers-8.30.3-r1 into /var/tmp/portage/ati-drivers-8.30.3-r1/image/ category x11-drivers

!!! doins fglrx.ko failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
I've got no idea what to do, and I'd be grateful for any push in a positive direction, as I've been stuck here for some time now.

from the top lines of output, looks like the actual error is higher up on the screen from what you've pasted in here.

you've not got your kernel headers available. to be honest i can't really remember how gentoo deals with them any more. is there a kernel-headers ebuild?

sys-kernel/linux-headers I think...
I'm emerging that and re-emerging glibc, as per linux-header's emerge instructions, then I'll try the emerge of ati-drivers again. With any luck it'll work.

This looks like a simular problem that was ask in the Slackware forum. It has to do with config.h is no longer in the 2.6.19 kernel.

same error as before with linux-headers as far as I can tell. Moosedaddy, know of a fix for the 2.6.19 problem?
