gentoo emerge annoyance...

Hey guys,

I'm trying to emerge ntop, and I'm getting a bunch of stupid dependancies.

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r4
[ebuild N ] media-libs/gd-2.0.32
[ebuild N ] net-analyzer/ntop-3.0
[ebuild N ] app-arch/rpm2targz-9.0-r2
[ebuild N ] sys-apps/utempter-0.5.5.5-r1
[ebuild N ] x11-terms/xterm-197

I'm wondering why it wants to install X, is there an easy way to make fix this besides an inject ?

I get the same thing when trying to install nmap

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r4
[ebuild N ] app-arch/rpm2targz-9.0-r2
[ebuild N ] sys-apps/utempter-0.5.5.5-r1
[ebuild N ] x11-terms/xterm-197
[ebuild N ] dev-perl/XML-Parser-2.34
[ebuild N ] dev-util/intltool-0.31.2
[ebuild N ] x11-libs/gtk+-1.2.10-r11
[ebuild N ] net-analyzer/nmap-3.75

Cheers,

hi,
you can emerge these programs setting their dependencies:

USE="-X -gd" emerge ntop
