Hi.
I'm having problems with gedit. When I click open it takes few minutes for a open dialog box to pop up. First frew times I tried it I thought it just locked or something. Any help would be appreciated.
the open button should by default give the view of your mounted partitions and home folder. This should not have any problems. Are you facing a similar problem while trying to open files from other applications or is it just gedit?
Hi.
I also get the same problem with OpenOffice. In addition in OpenOffice Save As takes a long time to open.
KOfice, eclipse, etc on the other hand work just fine.
I am not sure if Eclipse is a GTK based application, but I guess its not. Seems like the default GTK open box is giving you some trouble. Both Open office and Gedit use GTK widgets. Koffice on the other hand uses QT. So lets see, assuming GTK is to blame I would say that maybe reinstalling GTK might work out.
Sometimes running the program via a console gives out the errors which are otherwise invisible. That may help too.
Hi.
How exactly do I reinstall those?
I tried reinstalling gtk1.2, but it gives me an error saying I need GLIB version 1.2.8 or higher. I have 1.2.10. Why doesn't it see it? Also I'm not sure how to specify to configure where to look for it.
That is if I knew where it is installed.
I tried the command below to find where glib is installed, but it only revealed some doc directory and include for 2.0.
[root@localhost /]# find -name glib*.2.10 -print
find: WARNING: Hard link count is wrong for ./proc: this may be a bug in your filesystem driver. Automatically turning on find's -noleaf option. Earlier results may have failed to include directories that should have been searched.
./usr/share/doc/glib-1.2.10
