gdm login screensaver

hello,

I am running RH9 and would like to run a screensaver when the graphical greeter has been running for 5 mins.

I "googled" aroiund a bit and saw that I have to change the /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf and I did.

I changed to this :
BackgroundProgram=/usr/X11R6/bin/xscreensaver -nosplash
RunBackgroundProgramAlways=true

xscreensaver is running, but as nobody. A random screensave runs for 10 mins and then another is randomly choosen. How can I configure things so that it for example runs the xmatrix screensaver ?

thanks,

Ron

I'm guessing (never tried that) ... put a world-readable .xscreensaver file with
those settings in / ?

Cheers,
Tink

xscreensaver has been resolved.

Apparently the xscreenserver can be run by xdm.

xscreensaver doesn't read any of the .xscreensaver config files probably because it switched from root to nobody during startup. instead the apps-default is used (XScreensaver). If changed are made to that file, the screensaver works as expected in the "login screen"

thanks,

Ron
